What Are Community Schools?
Community schools are more than just places of learning—they are hubs where schools, families, and local organizations work hand-in-hand. Together, we create a supportive environment that meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of every student.
Is Vaughn a Community School?
Yes! We are excited to share that in July 2025, Vaughn received a five-year implementation grant from the California Department of Education to continue growing as a community school. Through the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP), we are strengthening our partnerships with students, families, educators, community members, and local community agencies.
Together, we are building a well-integrated system of support that focuses on academics, health and social services, youth development, and community engagement. This work helps our school respond to the unique needs of students and families, while connecting them to valuable resources that remove barriers to learning and open the door for all students to thrive.
At the heart of community schools are strong, caring relationships with families and the broader community and we are grateful to be deepening those connections every day.

Get Involved
We welcome you to become part of the Vaughn Community Schools Advisory Council - a group of parents, staff, students, and community members engaging together in shared decision making to ensure that students and families are connected to the support services they need.
